DevT Pro
Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how DevT Pro (also called Developer Tools Pro), developed by Mohammed Aadhil, handles information when you use the app on macOS, iPadOS, Windows or Linux, and when you use its command line tool or MCP server.
Data collection
DevT Pro does not collect personal or sensitive user data for transmission to the developer or to a developer-operated server. This includes:
- Names and email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Location data
- Device identifiers and advertising identifiers
- Usage analytics
- Crash analytics
- Files, images or documents opened in the app
- JSON, XML, YAML, CSV, TOML, code, tokens, keys, passwords or any other text you enter, paste, convert, validate, encrypt, hash or decode
The only exceptions are the requests you start yourself, described under When the app connects to the internet, and license checks for directly downloaded copies, described under Purchases and license keys. Information you send by email is handled under Support correspondence.
Local processing of your content
Every tool in DevT Pro runs on your device. This covers formatting, minifying, converting, validating (including schema validation), viewing, encoding and decoding, JWT decoding, hashing, encryption and decryption, password and ID generation, regex testing, diffing, QR code generation and reading, and the other utilities in the app.
The app reads the content you open or enter so it can carry out these actions, even if that content contains personal or sensitive information. There is no server-side processing, so your content is not uploaded to us.
The JWT decoder only decodes tokens locally; it does not contact the token issuer. Encryption keys, passwords and generated secrets stay on your device unless you copy, save or share them.
When the app connects to the internet
DevT Pro works offline. It connects to the internet only in these cases:
- Loading from a URL. When you choose to load a file or a schema from a web address, the app downloads it from the server you entered. For JSON Schema and XSD, the app also downloads schemas that the first one references, so validation works. That server receives a normal web request, including your IP address, as with any download. Nothing you have typed into the app is sent with it.
- Markdown Preview. To display code highlighting and diagrams, the preview loads the open source highlight.js library from cdnjs (Cloudflare) and the Mermaid library from jsDelivr. These services receive a standard request for the library files, including your IP address. Your Markdown content is not sent to them.
- HTML Preview. The preview renders the HTML you provide in the system web view. If that HTML refers to remote images, styles, scripts or other resources, the web view fetches them from the addresses in your HTML, as a browser would.
- Links you open. Links in the app, such as Help, GitHub, specifications or the store page, open in your browser or the relevant app. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
- License checks on directly downloaded copies, described in the next section.
The cURL to code and HTTP request parser tools only generate or analyze text. They do not send the requests you enter.
Purchases and license keys
App Store and Microsoft Store copies. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Microsoft under their own privacy policies. The developer receives only the aggregated sales reports those stores provide, which do not identify you. These copies perform no license checks.
Copies downloaded directly (for example through Homebrew, winget, Flathub or the Snap Store) include a free plan. If you buy a Pro license, the purchase is processed by our payment provider, Dodo Payments, which collects the details needed to complete the sale, such as your name, email address, billing country and payment information. Dodo Payments handles this information under its own privacy policy; the developer never receives your card details.
When you enter a license key in the app, DevT Pro sends to Dodo Payments:
- the license key;
- a label for this activation, made of the app version, the operating system and your computer’s name, so you can recognise the device when you manage your activations; and
- on later launches, the license key and the activation ID, to confirm the license is still valid. Deactivating sends the same two values.
Dodo Payments returns the name and email address on the purchase and the product name. The app stores these with the key in a file on your device so it can show who the license belongs to. They are not sent to the developer by the app.
Data stored on your device
DevT Pro keeps a small amount of information in its own storage on your device so it works the way you left it. This information stays on your device and is not sent to the developer:
- Settings, such as theme and editor preferences
- Favorite and recently used tools
- Recent schemas: the contents of up to ten schemas you have used, with the web addresses they were downloaded from, so they work offline. File paths are not stored.
- Saved items in individual tools, such as World Clock time zones, recent colors and saved dates in the Age Calculator
- For directly downloaded copies with a Pro license: the license key, activation ID, and the name, email address and product name returned by Dodo Payments
Your device’s own backups, such as iCloud or Time Machine, may include this data according to your settings.
Device permissions
- Files. The app opens and saves only the files and folders you choose through the system file picker or drag and drop.
- Camera. On iPad, the camera is used only if you choose to photograph a QR code. It is never used in the background, and photos are not uploaded.
- Photos. Used only to import an image you pick, for example to read a QR code or encode a file as Base64, or to save an image you generate. The app does not read your location from photos.
- Clipboard. The app reads the clipboard only when you paste and writes to it only when you copy.
- Network. Used only for the cases listed under When the app connects to the internet.
You can manage these permissions in your system settings at any time.
Deep links, Shortcuts, the command line and MCP
DevT Pro can be opened with devtpro:// links that include text for a tool. The app processes that text locally like anything else you enter. Be aware that the link itself, including the text in it, may be stored by the app that opens it, such as Shortcuts, Notes, a browser history or a launcher like Raycast.
On direct downloads, the devtpro command line tool and MCP server run the same tools on your computer. They read only the input and files you give them and do not send them anywhere. When you use the MCP server with an AI assistant, the assistant decides what text to send to DevT Pro, and the results return to that assistant; its provider handles that content under its own privacy policy. The command line tool reads the license file on your computer but does not contact Dodo Payments itself.
No account required
DevT Pro does not require you to create an account or sign in. There is no DevT Pro account or associated account data to delete.
No third-party tracking
DevT Pro does not include third-party advertising, tracking, crash reporting or analytics SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites.
Secure data handling
Processing takes place on your device without uploading your content to a developer-operated or remote processing service. Web requests made by the app use the address you provide; prefer HTTPS addresses for schemas and files. License checks with Dodo Payments always use HTTPS.
Keep your device and operating system secure, and choose carefully where you save or send sensitive content. Please do not send passwords, authentication tokens, license keys or confidential files in a support request.
Data retention and deletion
The developer does not retain copies of content processed in DevT Pro. Files you save remain where you put them until you delete them.
To remove the app’s local data, delete the app (on iPad, delete it rather than offloading it, because offloading keeps its data). On macOS, Windows and Linux, uninstalling may leave the app’s support folder in place; you can delete it yourself. To remove a license from a computer, use Deactivate in the app before uninstalling, so the seat is released with Dodo Payments.
Copies in cloud storage, backups or other apps must be removed separately. For purchase records held by Apple, Microsoft or Dodo Payments, contact that provider, or email us and we will help you reach them.
Children
DevT Pro is a tool for software developers and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Support correspondence
If you contact Mohammed Aadhil at [email protected], or open an issue on GitHub, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address or GitHub username, your message and any attachments. We use it only to respond and resolve the issue. Email and GitHub process and store this correspondence under their own policies; GitHub issues are public.
Support email is retained only as long as needed to handle your request and meet legal obligations. You can request deletion by emailing the same address.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when a feature changes how the app uses the network. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
