XML Hub
Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how XML Hub, developed by Mohammed Aadhil, handles information when you use the app on Windows.
Local processing
Everything you open, paste, or type into XML Hub is processed on your PC. Formatting, validation, XSD checks, conversion to other formats, Table View, Tree View, and code generation run inside the app, without a server.
The developer does not receive your documents, their content, file names, or information about how you use the app. This holds even when your content contains personal or sensitive information.
The editor, Table View, and Tree View are displayed with Microsoft Edge WebView2, a component of Windows. Their pages are bundled with the app and loaded from your PC.
Data stored on your PC
XML Hub keeps the following in its app data folder on your PC:
- Your settings, such as theme, editor options, default action, and layout
- XSD choices you make for a document, which can include that document’s file path, so the same schema is used next time
- A list of recently used schemas
- Downloaded XSD schemas and their download dates, kept in a size-limited cache
- Temporary files created when you share a result as a file
Files you open stay where they are, and files you save go to the location you choose. While a local schema is in use, the app watches that schema file so it can revalidate when you change it in another program. None of this data is sent to the developer.
Clipboard
By default, when XML Hub starts it reads the text on your clipboard and, if it is valid input, places it in the editor. You can turn this off in Settings → Auto paste clipboard on startup. The app also reads the clipboard when you choose Paste, and writes to it when you choose Copy. Clipboard content is used only inside the app.
Internet connections
XML Hub makes a network request only in these cases:
- Load from URL. When you enter a URL, the app downloads the content at that address.
- Schemas you add. When you attach an XSD from a URL, the app downloads it, along with any schemas it imports or includes from the internet.
- Schemas your document declares. If a document names an
https://schema inxsi:schemaLocationorxsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation, the app offers to download it, and downloads it only when you accept. If you turn on Settings → Download declared HTTPS schemas, it downloads them without asking. This setting is off by default. - Cache checks. After a downloaded schema’s cache period ends, the app asks the server whether it has changed before using it again.
A schema declared as a local file next to your document is read from your PC, not downloaded. You can turn this off in Settings → Follow declared local schemas, or stop schema suggestions for one document with Detach XSD or Don’t suggest for this input.
These requests ask only for the file at the given address. They never include the content of your documents. Like any web request, they show the server your IP address and standard request details such as the app’s user agent. The sites you download from handle that information under their own privacy policies.
Without an internet connection, everything except these downloads keeps working, and previously downloaded schemas are used from the cache.
Previews, saving, and sharing
HTML and Markdown output can be previewed in a separate window. The preview displays the generated output on your PC and does not follow links. If your data contains addresses of images or other resources, the preview may load them from those addresses.
When you save, copy, or share a result through the Windows share window, the destination you choose receives that content and handles it under its own terms. Links in the app, such as the bug report page, open in your web browser.
Accounts, purchases, and tracking
XML Hub has no account or sign-in, and there is no account data to delete. It contains no in-app purchases or license keys. It does not include advertising, analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs, and it does not sell or share personal information.
Microsoft Store and Windows
XML Hub is distributed through the Microsoft Store, which handles downloads, installs, updates, and reviews under Microsoft’s privacy statement. The developer receives aggregate reports from the Store, such as install counts by country, version, or Windows version, and crash and hang reports collected by Windows according to your diagnostic data settings. These reports do not identify you to the developer.
Retention and deletion
The developer does not hold copies of anything you process in XML Hub. Data stored by the app stays on your PC until you remove it:
- Clear downloaded schemas in Settings with Clear cache, and the recent schema list with Clear list.
- Restore default settings in Settings with Reset settings.
- Uninstalling XML Hub removes its app data folder, including settings, schema choices, and the schema cache.
Files you saved, shared, or copied elsewhere are not removed by uninstalling. Delete them separately, including any copies in cloud storage or backups.
Support and privacy requests
If you contact Mohammed Aadhil at [email protected], your email address, message, and any attachments are used to respond to your request. Email providers process that correspondence to deliver and store it. It is kept as long as needed to handle your request and any related legal obligations, and you can ask for it to be deleted. If you report a bug on GitHub, GitHub’s own privacy statement applies to what you post there.
Please do not send passwords, API keys, tokens, or confidential documents in a support request; a small sample with made-up values is enough to reproduce most problems. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information held about you. Contact the same address to exercise them.
Children’s privacy
XML Hub is a general-purpose developer utility and is not directed at children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information in a support request, contact [email protected] to have it removed.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app or its data practices change. The latest version will be available at this address with a revised date.
