WebRendie
Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how WebRendie, developed by Mohammed Aadhil, handles information when you use the app on macOS, Windows, or Linux.
Projects and local storage
The app keeps project source code, assets, mock API data, project metadata, global assets and collections, settings, and recent-file references on your device. It accesses files or folders you select. Preview console output is processed locally and may contain information logged by your code.
On Windows, this data is kept in the app’s package data folder. On Linux, it is kept in ~/.local/share/dev.aadhil.webrendie, or inside the Snap or Flatpak’s own data folder (~/snap/webrendie or ~/.var/app/dev.aadhil.webrendie) when installed from those stores. On Linux, the app can read files in your home folder so that an opened HTML file previews with the stylesheets, scripts, and images beside it, and so it can notice when another program changes an open file.
If you open or save files through iCloud Drive, OneDrive, or another file provider, that provider may store or synchronize them under its own settings and privacy policy. System backups may also include local app data. These services are controlled by your operating system and chosen providers.
CDN libraries and preview network requests
Opening Add CDN Library can contact the cdnjs API to load its library list. Library searches send your search terms to that API. Loading a selected library can contact its CDN. These services receive your IP address and request information; Cloudflare describes its handling in its privacy policy.
Previewed HTML, CSS, and JavaScript can load remote resources and send requests to destinations specified by your code, examples, or dependencies. JSX module imports may use esm.sh. Those services can receive request information and any data your code sends. Their policies apply to those connections. Review project code and external URLs before previewing sensitive content.
Local preview servers
Local preview and folder-serving features bind to the loopback address, so other programs on the same computer can access the served content. They do not publish your project to the internet. Stop the server when you no longer need it.
App Store purchases
Apple processes App Store purchases and restores. The app uses StoreKit to retrieve products and prices and verify your Pro entitlement. The developer does not receive your payment card details through the app. Apple handles purchase information under its App Store privacy notice.
App Store builds use Apple’s purchase system and do not include the license-key service described below.
Microsoft Store, Snap Store, and Flathub
On Windows, WebRendie is distributed through the Microsoft Store. On Linux, it is distributed through the Snap Store and Flathub. These stores handle downloads, installs, and updates, and may collect account, device, and usage information under their own terms: Microsoft’s privacy statement, Canonical’s privacy notice for the Snap Store, and Flathub’s own policies.
The developer receives aggregate reports from these stores, such as install counts by version, country, or operating system, and, from the Microsoft Store, crash and hang reports collected by Windows according to your diagnostic data settings. These reports do not identify you to the developer.
Pro license keys
The Mac build distributed outside the App Store, and the Windows and Linux apps, use Dodo Payments for checkout and Pro license activation. Checkout may collect contact, billing, payment, and transaction information. The developer may receive customer and order information needed to provide the purchase and support. Payment handling is described in Dodo Payments’ privacy policy; payment card details are not collected by the editor.
Activation sends your license key and a label containing the app version, the platform (macOS, Windows, or Linux), and your computer name to Dodo Payments. Validation and deactivation send the license key and activation-instance identifier. Network requests also disclose your IP address to the service. These requests verify and manage the devices using your license.
The app locally stores the license key, activation identifier, product information, customer email if returned by the service, activation and validation dates, and revocation state. An existing activation may be revalidated at launch when its last validation is at least seven days old. Project source code and assets are not included in license requests.
To release the activation and remove its local record after the service confirms, use Settings → Pro → Deactivate This Mac on macOS, Settings → Deactivate this PC on Windows, or Preferences → Pro license → Deactivate this computer on Linux. This does not delete purchase records held by Dodo Payments. Contact support or Dodo Payments about those records; they may retain information needed for transaction and legal obligations.
Error reports (Windows)
The Windows app reports crashes and handled errors to Sentry, an error-monitoring service run by Functional Software, Inc. A report contains the error message and stack trace, recent app events leading up to it, the app’s version and package details, and Windows and device information. Reports can include your IP address and Windows user name, and an error message or event can include a file or project name. Sentry also receives a record of each app session, and a sample of performance timings, so the developer can see how often the app runs without crashing.
Reports are used only to find and fix problems in the app. They do not include your project source code or assets. Sentry handles them under its privacy policy. The macOS and Linux apps do not send error reports to the developer.
Retention, deletion, and sharing
Projects, assets, mock data, and settings remain until you delete them or remove the app’s stored data. Deleting a project does not remove separately stored global assets or files saved outside the project. Remove external files, exports, and backups separately. On macOS, removing the application alone can leave its support files and preferences. On Windows, uninstalling the app removes its package data. On Linux, removing the Snap with snap remove --purge or the Flatpak with flatpak uninstall --delete-data removes its data; otherwise delete its data folder yourself. Deactivate a Pro license before removing the app’s data.
Exporting, copying, printing, or sharing content makes it available to the destination you choose. Exported files and clipboard contents can remain outside the app after you delete the original item. Remove those copies separately, including any backups or synchronized copies.
Analytics and tracking
Apple may provide app usage statistics and diagnostics according to your device sharing settings. These are handled under Apple’s App Analytics privacy notice. The Microsoft Store, Snap Store, and Flathub reports are described above. Apart from the Windows error reports, the app does not include an analytics, advertising, or tracking service.
Support and privacy requests
If you contact Mohammed Aadhil at [email protected], your email address, message, and any attachments are used to respond to your request and resolve the issue. Email providers process that correspondence to deliver and store it. Support correspondence is kept as needed to handle your request and any related legal obligations; you can request deletion by email.
Please avoid including passwords, license keys, confidential documents, or other sensitive content unless you deliberately choose to share it for support. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information held about you. Contact the same address to exercise those rights. The developer cannot access or remotely delete data stored only on your device.
Children’s privacy
This app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has supplied personal information in a support request, contact [email protected] to request its removal.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app or its data practices change. The latest version will be available at this URL with a revised date. This policy covers the app on macOS, Windows, and Linux and its related support; websites and services you choose to use have their own privacy practices.
