QR Generator Lite and QR Code Generator Pro for Windows

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains how the Windows apps QR Generator Lite and QR Code Generator Pro, developed by Mohammed Aadhil, handle information when you use them.

Which apps this covers

QR Generator Lite and QR Code Generator Pro are built from the same source code and handle data the same way. They differ only in how Pro features are paid for:

The QR Code Generator Pro app for Apple platforms is covered by its own policy.

Content you choose to process

The apps process the text and payloads you encode, such as URLs, contact cards, Wi-Fi credentials, payment details, calendar events, meeting links and locations. They also process logos and images you select, spreadsheet rows (CSV or Excel) you import for bulk generation, and images you open in the QR and bar code readers. Generation, styling, preview, scanning and export all run on your PC.

A QR code or bar code reveals its content to anyone who scans it. Take care when encoding passwords, authentication secrets or personal details. Creating a code that contains a web address does not open that website.

Local storage

The apps keep the following in their own app data folder on your PC:

Reader results are held in memory while the app is open and are not saved unless you export them. The apps do not sync any of this data to the cloud. Windows backup or a file provider you choose may copy app data or exported files under their own settings and privacy policies.

Files, clipboard, sharing and camera

The apps open only the files and folders you choose, through Windows pickers or by drag and drop. They use the clipboard when you choose Copy, and the Windows share sheet when you choose Share. Camera scanning is disabled in the current versions, and the apps do not request camera access.

Purchases and license keys

QR Generator Lite. Choosing Buy opens a Dodo Payments checkout in your web browser. Dodo Payments acts as the merchant of record: it processes your payment and billing details and emails your license key, under its privacy policy. The developer does not receive your card details.

When you activate a key, the app sends it to Dodo Payments (live.dodopayments.com) together with a device name in the form “QR Generator Lite version (Windows) on your computer’s name”, so you can recognise the PC in your list of activations. The app checks the activation with Dodo Payments again at most once every seven days, and contacts it when you choose Check again or Deactivate this PC. Deactivating releases the key so it can be used on another PC.

While Pro is not active, the app also asks the developer’s price service, hosted on Cloudflare Workers, for the price in your local currency. That service works out your country from your IP address and returns a price; it does not receive your license key or any content. Cloudflare handles that traffic under its privacy policy.

QR Code Generator Pro, and links to it. The Microsoft Store processes Store purchases, ratings and reviews under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. The developer does not receive your payment details.

Crash and diagnostic reports

The apps send crash and error reports to Sentry, an error-monitoring service, so problems can be found and fixed. A report can include:

The apps also send session information (that the app started and whether the session ended in a crash) and performance timings for a sample of operations. Reports are designed not to include the content of your codes, imported files or scanned images, license keys or email addresses. Sentry processes reports under its privacy policy, and the IP address of the connection is visible to it when a report is sent. The current versions have no in-app setting to turn reporting off; contact the developer if you have concerns.

Apart from these reports, the apps include no analytics, advertising or cross-app tracking. The Microsoft Store may provide the developer with aggregate install and usage statistics under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Other network connections

Exports and third-party destinations

Saving, exporting, copying or sharing makes content available to the destination you choose. Exported images, PDFs, spreadsheets and clipboard contents stay outside the app after you delete the original, and may contain the full payload of each code. Remove those copies separately, including any backups or synced copies. If you open a link from a code or send an export to another app or service, that destination handles the data under its own privacy policy.

Retention and deletion

Templates stay until you delete them on the Templates page. Preferences stay until you reset them or remove the app. Uninstalling an app removes its app data folder, including the stored license activation; deactivate the PC first if you want to use the key elsewhere. Uninstalling does not delete files you exported.

Diagnostic reports are kept by Sentry for a limited period under the developer’s account settings and then deleted. Dodo Payments and Microsoft keep purchase records as their own policies and legal obligations require.

Support and privacy requests

If you contact the developer at [email protected] or the app’s support address [email protected], or open an issue on GitHub, your email address or GitHub account, message and any attachments are used to respond and resolve the issue. Email providers and GitHub process that correspondence under their own policies. Support correspondence is kept as needed to handle your request and any related legal obligations; you can ask for it to be deleted.

Please do not send license keys in full, passwords or other sensitive content unless you deliberately choose to share it for support; the last characters of a key are usually enough. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information held about you, including diagnostic reports. Contact [email protected] to exercise them. The developer cannot access or remotely delete data stored only on your PC.

Children’s privacy

These apps are general-purpose utilities and are not directed at children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, for example in a support request, contact [email protected] to have it removed.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the apps or their data practices change. The latest version will be at this URL with a revised date. It covers the Windows apps and their related support; websites and services you choose to use have their own privacy practices.
