This policy explains how BarQoder, the Windows barcode app developed by Mohammed Aadhil, handles information when you use it. It covers the free app and the Pro features unlocked within it.
Which app this covers
BarQoder is a Windows utility for generating individual barcodes, preparing bulk barcode jobs, creating label sheets, saving barcode styles and reading codes from images or a camera. The free and Pro features use the same local processing. Pro is an optional license-key upgrade purchased through Dodo Payments; it does not use Microsoft Store in-app purchases.
This policy applies to BarQoder. Other apps from the developer, including the separate upfront-priced barcode app and the QR Code Generator apps, have their own privacy policies.
Content you choose to process
The app processes the text, numbers and other payloads you encode, including product identifiers, inventory numbers, shipping or business data, and QR code content. It also processes spreadsheet rows you import from CSV or Excel files, data you enter directly, sequence rules you configure, label layouts, and images or camera frames you scan.
Barcode generation, previews, image decoding, camera decoding, label composition and export run on your PC. These features do not send your source files, barcode payloads, scanned images or camera frames to a remote barcode service.
A barcode or QR code reveals its content to anyone who scans it. Take care when encoding personal details, passwords or other sensitive information. Generating a code that contains a web address does not itself open that website.
Local storage
BarQoder stores the following in its own app data on your PC:
Preferences, such as theme, startup page, export formats and quality, label settings, and the last selected camera and scanning mode.
Saved barcode templates, including their names, descriptions, barcode formats, appearance settings and favourites.
Saved sequence profiles, including their names, generation rules, counters and recent run records used to resume sequences and track issued values.
If Pro is activated: the license key, activation identifier, customer email address and product returned by Dodo Payments, and activation and validation dates. This local activation lets Pro work offline.
Temporary files used for operations such as copying, sharing, exporting or preparing output.
Reader results are held in memory during use and are not saved as a persistent scan history unless you export them. The app does not sync your templates, sequences, scan results or preferences to a developer-operated cloud service. Windows backup or a file provider you choose may copy app data or exported files under its own settings and privacy policy.
Files, clipboard and camera
The app reads files you choose to import or scan, including files supplied through Windows pickers or drag and drop, and writes output to destinations you select. Clipboard and Windows sharing features act when you choose to copy or share content.
If you start live camera scanning, the app accesses the selected camera to display a preview and decode barcodes on your PC. Camera frames are processed in memory; the scanner does not record a video or upload frames. It uses video capture without microphone audio. You can stop scanning in the app and control camera access through Windows privacy settings.
Purchases and license keys
Choosing Buy opens a Dodo Payments checkout in your browser. Dodo Payments processes payment and billing details and delivers your license key under its privacy policy. The developer does not receive your card details.
When you activate a key, BarQoder sends the key to Dodo Payments at live.dodopayments.com together with a device name containing the app name, version, Windows platform and your computer’s name. This helps you recognise the PC in your list of activations. Activation information returned by Dodo Payments, including the customer email address and product, is cached locally.
The app automatically checks an existing activation at most once every seven days. It also contacts Dodo Payments when you choose Check again or Deactivate this PC. Validation and deactivation use the license key and activation identifier. Deactivating releases the activation for use on another PC.
While Pro is not active, the app requests prices in your local currency from the developer’s price service hosted on Cloudflare Workers. The service determines your country from the request’s IP address and returns pricing for the available products. This request does not include your license key, imported files or barcode content. Cloudflare handles this traffic under its privacy policy.
Crash and diagnostic reports
BarQoder sends crash and error reports to Sentry to help the developer find and fix problems. Reports can include:
The error, stack trace, affected component and operation, and source file name and line number.
The app version and package details, Windows and .NET runtime information, and other technical environment details.
A short trail of recent app actions and technical context, such as the page or barcode format involved.
The app also sends session information, such as whether a session ended in a crash, and performance timings for a sample of operations. Reporting is designed to avoid sending barcode content, imported documents, scanned images, camera frames, license keys or email addresses. The app disables Sentry’s default collection of personal information and applies redaction to report messages and breadcrumbs, including file paths, document names, URLs, email addresses and recognised sensitive payloads.
Sentry processes diagnostic data under its privacy policy. Like other network services, it can see the IP address used to connect even though the app clears the IP address field in error reports. The current app has no in-app switch to turn reporting off; contact the developer with privacy concerns.
Apart from these diagnostic reports, the app includes no advertising or cross-app tracking. The Microsoft Store may provide the developer with aggregate installation and usage information under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Network connections and external links
The app’s automatic service connections are for diagnostics, license validation and local pricing, described above. Barcode generation and scanning do not require an online barcode service.
Links you choose to open, including checkout, support, GitHub issues and Microsoft Store pages, are handled by your browser or the destination app. Those services receive the normal connection information, such as your IP address, and handle any information you provide under their own policies.
Exports, sharing and printing
Saving, exporting, copying, sharing or printing sends content to the destination you choose. Barcode images, SVG and PDF files, label sheets, and CSV or Excel scan-result exports can contain the full encoded or decoded content. Printed labels make that content available to anyone who can read or scan them.
Your printer, Windows print queue, network print service, shared folder, cloud-synced destination or receiving app may retain copies under its own settings. Files, clipboard contents and printed output remain outside BarQoder after you clear results or delete an app template. Remove those copies and any backups separately.
Retention and deletion
Saved templates and sequence profiles remain in local app data until you delete them or remove that data. You can clear reader results in the app. Preferences and cached activation information remain until reset or removed.
Uninstalling the packaged app removes its local app data. Deactivate this PC before uninstalling if you want to release the license activation; removing local data alone does not deactivate the PC with Dodo Payments. Uninstalling does not delete exported files, backups or printed labels.
Diagnostic reports are retained according to the developer’s Sentry account settings. Dodo Payments and Microsoft retain records according to their own policies and applicable obligations. Contact the developer about information held in diagnostic reports or support correspondence.
Support and privacy requests
If you contact [email protected], use the app’s support address [email protected], or open a GitHub issue, your contact details, message and attachments are used to respond and resolve the issue. Email providers and GitHub process that correspondence under their own policies. Support correspondence is kept as needed to handle your request and related obligations; you can ask for its deletion.
Avoid sending full license keys, confidential spreadsheets, passwords or sensitive barcode payloads when reporting a problem. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information held about you. Contact [email protected] with a privacy request. The developer cannot access or remotely delete data stored only on your PC.
Children’s privacy
BarQoder is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, for example in a support request, contact [email protected] to request its removal.
Changes to this policy
This policy may change as BarQoder or its data practices change. The latest version will be available at this URL with an updated date. It covers the Windows app and related support; external websites and services have their own privacy practices.
