YAML Tools
Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how YAML Tools, developed by Mohammed Aadhil, handles information when you use the app on Android or iOS.
Data collection
YAML Tools does not collect personal or sensitive user data for transmission to the developer or a developer-operated server. This includes:
- Names
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Location data
- Device identifiers
- Usage analytics
- Crash analytics
- Advertising identifiers
- Files or documents opened in the app
- YAML, JSON, XML, CSV, TOML, or other text content edited in the app
Files and text you choose to work with are accessed and used locally as described below. Information you voluntarily send by email is handled separately under Support correspondence.
Local processing
Everything you open, paste, or type into YAML Tools is processed on your device. Formatting, validation, JSON Schema checks, conversion to other formats, comparing documents, Table View, Tree View, and code generation run inside the app, without a server.
The app accesses the content you open or enter to carry out these actions, even if that content contains personal or sensitive information. File access is subject to the permissions and file access controls provided by Android or iOS, which you can manage in your device settings.
Data stored on your device
YAML Tools keeps the following in its private storage on your device. None of it leaves the device:
- Your settings, such as theme, font size, indentation, and editor options
- A list of recently opened files, with their names and locations, so you can reopen them
- JSON Schemas you add, a copy of each, and the file or URL it came from
- Which schema you chose for a document, which can include that document’s file path
- A cached copy of the SchemaStore catalog, refreshed at most once a day
Depending on your device settings, Android or iOS may include app data in your device backups, which are handled by the operating system and your backup provider.
Internet connections
YAML Tools uses the internet only to download content. It never uploads your documents. It connects to:
- SchemaStore.org, to download its public catalog of JSON Schemas when the app starts, at most once a day, and when you refresh it. If you turn on Auto-assign SchemaStore schemas, the app also downloads the schema that matches a file you open.
- Schema addresses, when you add a schema from a URL, when a document declares its own schema URL, or when a schema refers to another schema online.
- A URL you enter, when you use Load from URL or compare against a document at a URL.
Only HTTPS addresses are used. As with any download, the server you connect to receives standard connection information, such as your IP address and the app’s name and version, and handles it under its own privacy policy. The file name, path, or content of your document is not sent to these servers; when the app looks for a matching schema, it compares your file name against the downloaded catalog on your device.
No account, ads, or tracking
YAML Tools does not require you to create an account or sign in, so there is no account data to delete.
The app does not include third-party advertising, tracking, or analytics SDKs, and it does not track you across apps or websites.
Data retention and deletion
The developer does not retain copies of files or text processed in YAML Tools. Files you save remain in the location you choose until you delete them.
You can clear recent files and remove schemas inside the app. To remove all app data, use Android’s clear-storage controls or delete the app on iOS. Offloading an app on iOS can retain its data. Removing app data does not delete files saved outside the app’s private storage.
Copies in cloud storage, backups, or other apps must be removed separately through the relevant device settings or provider. The developer cannot access or remotely delete content stored only on your device or with a provider you choose.
Support correspondence
If you contact Mohammed Aadhil at [email protected], we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond to your inquiry and resolve the issue. Email service providers process and store the correspondence to deliver this service.
Please do not send passwords, authentication tokens, or confidential files in a support request. Support correspondence is retained only as long as needed to handle your request and meet applicable legal obligations. You can request deletion by emailing the same address; any legally required retention will be explained in response to your request.
Children’s privacy
YAML Tools is a general-audience developer utility. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
